In short

  • Only what an order needs is collected: your name, email, mobile number, what you ordered, and your address for a delivery.
  • Card details go straight to Stripe. The full card number is never seen or stored here.
  • Your information is not sold and is not used for advertising.
  • You get messages about your order. News of the next menu is sent only if you ask for it, and you can stop it at any time.
  • No advertising cookies. Visits are counted anonymously, with Google Analytics, and you can turn that off for your device on the analytics opt-out page.

1. Who this covers

This policy explains what happens to your information when you use Pour Some Sugar On It's site.

Pour Some Sugar On It runs this shop and decides what your information is used for. The site is built on Cobble, an online ordering platform, which stores and handles that information for Pour Some Sugar On It. Cobble's own Privacy Policy explains what Cobble does with it.

2. What is collected

Only what you give, and only what the order needs:

  • When you order: your first name, your last name if you give it, your email address, your mobile number and what you ordered.
  • If you choose delivery: the street address, town and ZIP you enter, and any notes for the door.
  • When you pay: your card details go straight to Stripe. This site keeps the payment's reference, the card's brand and its last four digits, so a receipt and a refund can be matched to it. It never has your full card number.
  • If you sign in: your email address, linked to the orders placed with it.
  • If you ask to be told about the next menu or a bake coming back: the email address or mobile number you give, the words you agreed to and when.
  • If you use the contact form: your name, email, phone number if you give it, and your message. It is emailed to Pour Some Sugar On It.
  • If you send a custom order request: your name, email, phone number if you give it, what you asked for and any photos you add.
  • If Pour Some Sugar On It sends you a link to pay: that the link was opened, when, and how many times, so Pour Some Sugar On It knows it reached you. A scrambled form of your connection's address is kept for half an hour so one visit isn't counted twice. It cannot be turned back into the address.
  • When you use a sign-up or request form: a scrambled form of your connection's address is recorded, to stop the forms being abused. It cannot be turned back into the address.
  • As you browse: how the site is used, through Google Analytics (see "Analytics" below). The pages viewed, the rough location and the kind of device, added up across everyone and never used to identify you.

3. What it is used for

  • To take, make and hand over your order, and to answer you about it.
  • To send your receipt and the messages about your order described below.
  • To keep the shop's order records.
  • To stop fraud and abuse.
  • To send you news of the next menu, only if you asked for it.

Your information is not sold. It is not used to advertise to you, and it is not used for marketing messages unless you asked for them.

4. Emails and texts

About an order, Pour Some Sugar On It may email you: a confirmation and receipt, a reminder before your pickup, a note when your order is ready, a note if a pickup or delivery time changes, a note if your order is cancelled or refunded, and a thank-you afterwards. Replies to these emails go to Pour Some Sugar On It.

Pour Some Sugar On It also sends texts, from its own number, only if you tick the box at checkout: updates about your order (for example that it is ready, on its way, cancelled or refunded). Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to any text to stop them, or HELP for help. Pour Some Sugar On It does not share, sell, rent or transfer mobile numbers, SMS opt-in data or text messaging consent with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. The texting terms have the details.

If you asked to hear about the next menu, you get a message when one opens, by email or by text, whichever you chose. Every one of those emails has an unsubscribe link, and every text says to reply STOP.

5. Who it is shared with

With Pour Some Sugar On It, to make and hand over your order, and with the companies that do one job each for the site:

  • Cobble, the ordering platform, which runs the site and stores the orders.
  • Stripe, which takes card payments. It receives the card details you enter and the amount.
  • Resend, which sends the emails.
  • Telnyx, which sends the texts. It receives the mobile number and the texts, nothing else.
  • Supabase and Vercel, in the United States, which store Cobble's data and run its sites.
  • Google, through Google Analytics, which counts how the site is used (see "Analytics" below). Google's privacy policy covers what Google does with it.
  • For a delivery: whoever brings your order (Pour Some Sugar On It itself, or a delivery partner where one is used) gets your name, address, phone number and door notes. The address you type is also sent to a mapping service to find it.

It is not shared with anyone else, unless the law requires it.

6. Cookies and what is kept in your browser

This site does not use advertising cookies or tracking pixels. Google Analytics sets its own cookies to count visits (see "Analytics" below). It keeps a few things on your device so the site works:

  • Your basket, and the reference that sets its bakes aside for you.
  • Your choice of pickup or delivery and, if you typed one, your delivery address, so you do not have to enter them again.
  • A few display choices, such as whether a menu panel is open.
  • A sign-in cookie, only once you sign in. Signing out removes it.
  • A cookie that remembers your recent pickup passes on this device for 30 days, so your order is found when you arrive.
  • If you turn analytics off (see "Analytics" below), a cookie that remembers that choice.

Clearing your browser's data for this site removes all of them. Payment pages also load Stripe's own code, which Stripe uses to take the payment and to prevent fraud.

7. Analytics

When a link to pay for an order is sent to you, the site notes when it was opened, so Pour Some Sugar On It knows it reached you. Your IP address is not kept.

Pour Some Sugar On It also uses Google Analytics to see how visitors use the site: which pages are viewed, roughly where visitors are, and what kind of device and browser they use. The numbers are added up across everyone and are used only to make the site better. They are never used to identify you, there are no advertising cookies, and nothing is sold. Google Analytics sets cookies (named _ga) to tell one visit from the next.

You can turn all of this off for this device at any time on the analytics opt-out page. The choice is kept in your browser, and the site stops loading Google's code for you.

8. Saved cards

If you are signed in and choose to keep a card for next time, it is saved with Stripe, not on this site. This site keeps only a reference to it. You can remove a saved card from your account page at any time. If you check out without signing in, no card is kept.

9. How long it is kept

Order records are kept as part of the shop's sales records. Cobble's Privacy Policy says how long Cobble keeps them and how to ask for your information to be deleted.

10. Your choices

  • You can order without an account.
  • You can stop menu emails with the unsubscribe link in any of them, and texts by replying STOP.
  • You can remove a saved card from your account page.
  • You can turn analytics off for this device on the analytics opt-out page.
  • To see, correct or delete the information held about you, use the contact page. Pour Some Sugar On It will pass the request to Cobble where Cobble holds the information. Some records have to be kept by law.

11. Children

This site is not directed at children under 13, and it does not knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child has given information here, use the contact page and it will be removed.

12. Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated from time to time. The date at the top shows when it last changed.

13. Questions

Questions about your information go to Pour Some Sugar On It: use the contact page.
